Angel Oak Tree

Charleston, South Carolina

It’s not often we decided to write an experience guide on a tree, but this Oak Tree is a true sight to behold.

Estimated to be four to five hundred years old, this Southern Live Oak near Charleston, South Carolina is just 66.5 ft tall, but has branches measuring 187 ft in length!

The Oak is located in Angel Oak Park on Johns Island. It is said to be the Southeast’s oldest living organism! This beautiful tree has survived hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. Live oak trees usually grow outward, rather than upward, explaining its large outstretched branches.

You will not want to leave Charleston without making the quick trip out to see this fairytale-like scene! There is plenty of parking and room to view the incredible natural beauty.
