Indulge in

Cherry Republic

MI , USA

Michigan is a gorgeous state in the Midwest. It is surrounded by nature, the Great Lakes and some of the best food and drinks in the country. In Northern Michigan, you’ll find the Leelanau Peninsula, a beautiful wine region located up in the hills. Cherry Republic is a Michigan-wide shop that is native to Glen Arbor within the Leelanau Peninsula.

Established in 1989, Cherry Republic began with a man named Bob selling T-shirts from his car. The shirts were printed with ‘Life, Liberty, Beaches and Pie’ representing summer in Michigan. His T-shirts became a success, so he began selling a cherry cookie, Cherry Boomchunka, along with them. He sold his cookies to shops all over the state, and was losing money for a short while due to travel costs. As Bob’s popularity picked up, he purchased a retail space in Glen Arbor and called it Cherry Republic. His brand then grew to include a cafe, offices, The Grand Hall, a winery, and multiple storefronts around the state.

Cherry Republic features all things cherry. From salsas and sauces to chocolate and coffee, Cherry Republic seems to do it all! Best part about it, most products contain cherry as the key ingredient. A visit to any of the stores will allow visitors to sample many of its products and purchase goods to take home.

At the charming Glen Arbor location, enjoy the winery tasting room where you can try their wines and other cherry-based beverages. Then, visit the cafe where you can grab a meal or a coffee. If you are looking to visit Cherry Republic, but aren’t heading to the Leelanau Peninsula, you can visit the store at any of its other six Michigan locations, including Traverse City, Charlevoix, Ann Arbor, Frankenmuth, and Holland.
