Dinant
Country: Belgium Language: Dutch & French Currency: Euro (€)
Dinant is without a doubt one of the most photogenic cites in Belgium. Set in the Upper Meuse valley between a large rock face and a flowing river, this colorful town runs along the Meuse. This easygoing and charming town is the perfect day trip from a number of nearby Belgian cities.
The iconic shot of Dinant is captured from the across the Pont Charles de Gaulle at the bank of the Meuse River. The Pont Charles de Gaulle is decorated with 28 giant saxaphones. The saxophones pay a tribute to the countries of the European Union Nations. The addition of the saxophones occurred in 2010, making these icons one of Dinant’s more modern aspects.

Dinant is famously known as the home of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the Saxophone. A visit to La Maison de Monsieur Sax allows you to explore the home of Mr. Sax. The house can be found on Rue Sax, in place of the house Adolphe was born into in 1814. The house allows music lovers to explore the history of the saxophone and its creator.

Overlooking Dinant is the amazing Citadel of Dinant. Once you cross the saxophone bridge, you will find Notre Dame de Dinant, a 13th century Gothic cathedral. The citadel is accessible by cablecar. At the top of the rock, you can learn about the history of the citadel on the site of its original fortification from 1051. Overlooking Dinant is the amazing Citadel of Dinant. A trip to Dinant would not be complete without a visit to Maison Leffe, an interactive museum featuring the wonderful Leffe Beer. The museum is housed in a converted monastery. The experience teaches you about the history of this classic Belgian beer, and at the end of your visit, a tasting is presented to you in the sitting room.
