Milan is a vibrant city, and one of Italy’s largest. Milan’s metropolis is full of modern architecture, high-end restaurants, the country’s stock exchange, and a multitude of international designer shops. The city is constantly moving and buzzing - quite a change from other Italian cities, especially if you are coming from Venice or Florence. When in Milan, you must visit the Duomo and the iconic Galleria beside the Duomo, and indulge in some fresh Italian food and a refreshing Campari Spritz. Milan is active by day and night, keeping you busy until well after the sun goes down!

CTW Must See

Milan Cathedral

Duomo di Milano, or Milan Cathedral, is the largest cathedral in Italy, and the fifth largest in the world! Construction on the gothic cathedral began in 1386, but was not technically completed until 1965. The cathedral is incredibly impressive inside, out, and even from the roof! It is said that the Milan Cathedral has more statues than any other building in the world! Visitors can purchase tickets to go to the top of the cathedral to admire the gorgeous architecture, the thousands of statues, and take in some stunning views overlooking Milan.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

The Galleria located beside the Milan Cathedral is one of the oldest shopping malls in the world! The alluring 4-story shopping center opened in 1877 and has a roof made of iron and glass. The designer shops found within the Galleria are some of the most luxurious in the world, and are considered some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan. Even if you aren’t planning to do any shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is gorgeous and well worth a visit.
